Early Intervention (EI) Program for children from birth to age 3*
Some children are identified as needing extra help before entering school; others are identified after their schooling has begun. Early Intervention (EI) is a Federal and New York State program to identify and assist infants and toddlers with suspected developmental delays. We provide both evaluations and approved services to eligible children at no cost to the family.
When necessary, getting help early on can make a big difference in the lives of children and has been proven to be extremely beneficial. We will conduct a thorough evaluation that includes:
• an interview with your family to address and identify your concerns and priorities
• a health assessment of your child gathered from your child’s pediatrician
• a play-based assessment of your child’s strengths and needs in all developmental areas, including motor skills, perceptual skills, thinking, language use and social-emotional functioning Parents will receive a written report following their child’s assessment.
Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)
services for children age 3-5
We also provide therapeutic and educational services for children from age 3 to 5, as well as integrated special classrooms at a variety of different locations. Parents gain access to preschool services through their local school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education (CSPE), who consult with parents to determine whether services are required and, if so, where they will be provided. We’ll work with your child’s current day care provider or preschool, your health care provider and, most importantly, you to help your child reach his or her fullest potential. Children with a wide range of needs find the expert attention and caring they need at ChildPro.
Committee on Special Education (CSE)
services for school-age children
A similarly constituted Committee on Special Education determines whether school-age children (from 5 years of age through high school) require services. We’ll coordinate with your local school district’s CSE to provide those services and to monitor and support your child’s progress. School-age children who are experiencing academic, developmental or injury-related difficulties will be served by our dedicated staff through a variety of contracts with local school districts, charter schools and other agencies.
